SPECIAL NOTICE: The number of people in sales and service halls must be monitored and disinfectants must be made available

3. April 2020 - 22:10

Tallinn, Stenbock House, April 3, 2020 - Today, the person in charge of the emergency situation, Jüri Ratas, signed an order according to which all sales and service halls that are open to people must be equipped with disinfectants. In order to comply with the 2 + 2 rule, the store or service venue must calculate the number of customers that can fit in the sales hall at one time. The restrictions will take effect on April 4.

The purpose of the restriction is to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection in shops and service halls.

As an important change, shopkeepers have to calculate how many customers can be in their store at one time according to the area of the sales or service hall in order to comply with the 2 + 2 rule. Shops, post offices, pharmacies and service providers must also ensure that people waiting behind the door follow the 2 + 2 rule and that there are no queues where people stand together more closely. According to the 2 + 2 rule, stores should preferably be visited alone or in pairs, keeping a distance of at least 2 meters from other customers.

In order to prevent the further spread of the virus, a rule shall be established that disinfectants must be available in the sales or service hall. Otherwise, customers are not allowed to enter or stay in the store.

The order changes the requirement for the location of the disinfectant, which must currently be located at the entrance to the shop or service hall. From now on, the shopkeeper can place it at the location where the disinfectant is most needed. It is important that customers are clearly informed where the disinfectant is located. Otherwise, the customer must not enter the shop.

These measures shall remain in force until this arrangement is amended; their necessity shall be assessed every two weeks at the latest.

The media must promptly publish this order of the person in charge of the emergency situation without modifying it and free of charge. We will also send a formal announcement.
