Travelling and border-crossing

Due to the emergency situation, border control is established from the 17th of March on all borders, including internal borders with Latvia, air borders and sea borders. Anyone entering Estonia has to provide information about their travel itinerary, travel companions, any possible contact with a person showing the COVID-19 symptoms and your current health situation.

Restrictions on freedom of movement

After arrival in Estonia from the 17th of March, all people apart from exceptions, have to quarantine themselves for 14 days at home or hotel. The person under restriction may only leave on the order of a health care worker or police officer or in the event of an emergency that poses a threat to the person’s life or health.

How to get back home from abroad?

We recommend following Estonian Foreign Ministry's and local Estonian embassies' Facebook pages for the latest updates. There has been a significant decrease in travel options; nevertheless, there are still few options to return to Estonia.

Latvia-Estonia cross border work

From the 20th of March, it is allowed for both Estonian and Latvian residents to work in the other country regardless of the municipality of residence. Cross-border work is permitted only for people without any symptoms of the disease.
