Instructions for how to behave at different risk levels
The risk level of the spread of the coronavirus can be low, medium, high, and very high. The Government reviews the risk level once a week and the state of the meters is also updated in accordance with that. In addition to the meters, it is also possible to glean information about the spread of the coronavirus from monitoring studies. In making their prognoses, the Scientific Advisory Board takes the share of population that has active immune protection into account. It is also necessary to consider the social-economic situation when taking decisions.
Everyone can adjust their behaviour and actions according to the risk level of the spread of the virus. The general instructions on how to behave can be found from the table below.
Low risk level
The coronavirus spreads in the community in isolated cases of known origin, but the risk of wider spread remains. The aim is to prevent the spread of the virus and to maintain vigilance so that restrictions are not imposed.
- Get vaccinated and help people close to you to get vaccinated as well
- Wash your hands
- Support the vaccination of employees and visitors
- Ensure well-ventilated rooms
- Put together a risk analysis and an action plan
- Guarantees a vaccination opportunity for everyone
- Guarantees testing opportunities
- Establishes possible outbreaks
Moderate risk level
There are outbreaks of infection in the community and the total number of infections is increasing. The aim is to prevent risk groups from becoming infected and avoid the need for restrictions.

- Wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces
- Do a rapid test before meeting people in a risk group
- Even if your symptoms are mild, stay home and do a rapid test
- If the rapid test is positive, consult a doctor

- Offer vaccination opportunities

High risk level
There is a spread of infection outside the outbreaks in the community and the risk of the virus spreading very widely. The aim is to ensure standard medical care and to avoid the need for extensive restrictions.
