In the early morning of May 3, Ukraine again organized an attack against targets located in Russia. Even though most of the drones used in the attack were moving outside the Estonian airspace, some drones did fly near the Estonian borders, in parallel with the Estonian eastern border in the direction of the Gulf of Finland.

To the knowledge of the Defence Forces, one of the drones temporarily veered into the Estonian airspace over Lake Peipsi in the course of these activities. The drone was in the Estonian airspace for a few minutes, after which it returned to the Russian airspace. There is no information about any drones falling down in the territory of Estonia.

As the drones were approaching the Estonian airspace, a notification about a potential air threat was sent out to the people of Võru and Ida-Viru counties and the readiness level of the air defence units of the Defence Forces was increased. Additionally, the Portuguese fighter jets serving in Estonia, as well as the French fighter jets serving in Lithuania as part of the NATO air policing mission were sent to the region.

By now, the threat has passed.
