SPECIAL NOTICE: More stringent rules for care homes during the emergency situation

Stenbock House, April 3, 2020 – the person in charge of the emergency situation, Mr Jüri Ratas signed an order to protect people from COVID-19 infection at care homes. People receiving 24h special care service and a general care service are not allowed to leave the territory of the care home until the end of the emergency situation. This order entered into force upon signature.


Only a person without symptoms may go home from a care home, understanding they cannot return to the care home until the end of the emergency situation.


The care home must ensure that a person infected with COVID-19, and other persons who have been in close contact with the infected person, will to be isolated.  Any contact with other persons, except care providers and medical personnel, is prohibited.


These measures will apply until the amendment of the order, and they will be re-evaluated every two weeks.


The media must publish the order of the person in charge of the emergency situation immediately, unchanged and free of charge. The official notice will follow.
